MOTY 2008 VOTE THE BEST MOD!

Welcome to today's announcement of the 2008 Mod of the Year awards, known as MOTY! For the people who are new to modding and are unaware of these prestigious awards, the MOTY is handed out to the most promising and liked mods every year. The prizes range from game engine licenses to a plethora of games. In total, over $8000 worth of prizes will be handed out. And the best part of this are the Peoples Awards. That's right, the MOTY awards are chosen by you! You can find out more about the awards and the process by visiting the official page.

How To Show Your Support
Many mods listed on Crymod have been working hard to get to a point where they are recognized as a serious mod with great potential. Over 110 Crysis mods are listed on ModDB so get out there and show your support. Find your favourites, download them and vote for them if you like them. It's as simple as that. Obviously, as the Crymod community, let's make sure we vote for the Crysis ones!

For the mods that are unreleased, don't worry, there is a category just for them - Upcoming mods. If you are part of a mod team, or see a promising mod, go ahead and support them by voting for them. Remember, in Phase 1, you can vote for as many mods as you like!

Process Of The Awards
  1. Phase 1 is open from the 2nd of January 2009 to the 16th of January 2009. This is when you are able to vote for every mod that you like or shows promise as an upcoming mod.
  2. Phase 2 is open from the 17th of January to the 2nd of February. This is when you can for three of the Top 100 mods in Phase 1. Here the list is narrowed down to a handful of winners.
  3. Phase 3 is when the results are released and the 2008 Peoples Choice and the 2008 Editor's choice winners are announced on ModDB!
Many teams have been hard at work, presenting mods of all genres, using a variety of game engines, including Crytek's CryEngine 2. Now its time for people like you to show your support for the hard work they've done and get voting! Some of the previous winners of the MOTY have become commercial successes, like Garry's Mod and Natural Selection so make sure you vote to make this possible for other mod teams.

The Awards
These speak for themselves;
  • Players Choice:
    *Top 10 mods
    *Top 5 Upcoming Mods
    *Top 5 Indie Games

  • Editors Choice:
    These are ad-hoc awards that give credit to specific areas of a game, for example, Best Use of a Cut-Scene or Best Use of Physics. These awards are announced with the results, so be creative!

The ultimate honour however, is claiming the 2008 Mod of the Year Trophy and joining the line of past winners. You can make this possible for the mod teams!
